Benifits of email and phone call marketing verses cold call? Any views welcome?

I am preparing an "argument" today to my boss regarding how negatively cold sales calls are viewed by businesses. Any input on this would be helpfull. Thanks,

Hui

I **** cold calls and spam email calls. They do not get a foot in the door if they do it. Even if I want the produce I would then make sure I would use another firm.

Cold calling puts people on the spot so most people are likely to say no as they havent the time to listen whereas emailing means people can look in there own time. Also cold calling tends to make people switch off and not listen whereas sending an email means they are more likely to take the information in or go back to it. I would rather have an email than a phone call or someone just turning up.. I dont have time for cold callers in my business or private life.
